Showcase attention to detail. Compliment her on something that you would have to really pay attention to catch. If it’s too surface-level, it’ll be meh. Find something that shows how observant, attentive, or understanding you are. I personally prefer complimenting something genuine about their personality — which is something you can only really know after interacting with them for a bit.

If you’re going to be complimenting appearances though, you can focus on things that she is obviously wearing to showcase. Like if everything else is something that she’s worn before, but she recently got these really nice earrings, compliment the earrings — not some random item of clothing she has.

Another thing is whatever you do, make sure that your compliment is genuine. It shows that you aren’t just bullsh*tting. Like if she’s wearing a genuinely nice fit with a great color combination for the occasion, you can compliment her on that, on the outfit she put together, and you can go into how you like that she decided to pair X with Y because of Z. Etc.

If her intuition is sharp, she’ll be able to sense fake compliments and flattery from a mile away. So if you DO have a compliment, whatever it is, make sure it’s for real.

As for an average compliment, usually guys compliment a girl on some random thing they see on the girl like their shoes or their hair or their dress. And it would just be like, “I like your XYZ.”
