Why do men never mention they have a girlfriend?

I’ve been mates with a guy for quite a while.. recently we have been flirting with one another a lot and chatting on the phone a few times a week etc Then a friend mentioned he has a new girlfriend so I took the opportunity to ask him and he was very casual about it saying ‘it’s new it’s going well so far but I’m very cautious haven't been in a Relationship for a while so taking it easy, told her what will be will be etc’

he never mentioned it before so feel a bit cross.. it feels like he’s led me on a bit…

he’s coming to visit me in March (lives in a different place) and he’s apparently told her she will have to deal with it …

why do guys do that?

It seems like he’s not committed to her and wants to keep his options open. He’s still ‘shopping around’ which is really bad practice if he has already supposedly committed to a girl. He’s acting as if him and his girlfriend aren’t exclusive. I’d be wary of him as he seems to take commitment and loyalty very lightly and isn’t ready to settle down anytime soon.

Why do women have an experience with a guy and then ask "why do all men?" or "why do men always?" or "why do men never?". It sounds so immature.

I had a girlfriend who lied about being pregnant when I broke up with her. Wouldn't it be stupid of me to ask "why do women always lie about being pregnant when you break up with them"?

i'm more likely to do it with a guy who tells me he has a girlfriend because then i know and it's my choice. if i find out later i'll be mad and won't want to do it no matter what
