Am I over thinking this situation or should I report this guy?

So a new a guy from work started a few days ago and he’s moved to the uk recently from Africa. He seemed nice at work but lately I’m starting to feel uncomfortable as he asked me to give me numbers for rooms in the city centre and seems very eager to wait for me and walk home with me by this time it’s pitch black outside. Yesterday I actually waited in the canteen so he wouldn’t know where I was after work. The next day apparently he was running and asking other colleagues where I was. He seems much older than me but there is other guys at work he talk with

If you truly feel THREATENED. Worse case scenario it causes a misunderstanding. But it's always better to say you're sorry later than to be sorry later.

I'm 6'5". I had a woman once tell my boss she felt physically threatened by me. Now ANYONE who knows me knows I would never raise a hand to a woman or try to physically intimidate one. So the accusation blindsided me. Luckily my boss was a woman as well and she informed my very presence is intimidating. She knew I was a big ol teddy bear though. Me and this other woman just had a verbal disagreement and she didn't know that. The end result was I was I tried to be mindful of that and dial it back if I ever disagreed with her in the future.

This guy your talking about might be just very forward. But do you want to take that chance. Is it worth taking that chance?

I would start by asking another colleague to be a witness and talk with this guy. Tell him you don't want him to do things he does (name them) and ask for him to leave you alone.

Having a witness will have a bigger impact than any report. It shows you are not afraid.

Of course, filing a report is always a good thing to do.

Ypu should definitely sat something but, don't make a huge thing out of it as it may be a misunderstanding. Just tell the boss your unsure what is going on or what his intentions are and would like him to be spoken to. Then if it continues bring it up again with more urgency.

Firstly you are worried about him so not much else matters. I’d say your HR might be able to construct a plan to talk to him confidentially so he doesn’t know it was you. If they’re good they should have this plan already.

If not, I’d say just slowly transition from friendly acquaintance to cold colleague with him. Slowly. Thus there’s no immediate anger and hopefully he loses interest.

It's pathetic to stalk someone who doesn't want contact with you. You can feel sorry for people having to go to jail but it's the consequences of their own actions and jail doesn't have to be a bad thing always. I have been jailed twice in my life and it actually helped me to get my shit back together again.

But people are responsible for their own actions and I don't feel sorry for those who are jailed because of it. They choose to behave like that so they also accepted the consequences of their actions before doing it 🤷🏻‍♂️
