Why would a guy tell my best friend that he deeply regrets dumping me?

So I dated this guy, it was a perfect match really. The feelings were mutual on both sides & then one day he decided to dump me, because he met someone else.

I moved on & accepted the situation.

Some time he started liking my stories again, replying to them, calling me & trying to find ways to make conversation.

I ignored this too, because why would I give a guy that dumped me the time of the day?

So my best friend was at the same event as him & they started talking. He asked a lot of questions about me & confessed that he deeply regrets dumping me & that he’s really hurt.

Why would he tell that to my best friend, when he certainly knows that she will be telling me?

So turns out he had a phase where he regretted dumping me. Now he’s telling a good male friend of mine & his how he never really was interested & he was just manipulating me. Doesn’t make sense, because of other factors. But I’m over it & I will just take these facts as what they are. Because if someone can’t communicate their feelings openly and honestly to my face, there will never be a potential future. I’m glad he dumped me. Turns out he’s kind of insane (fr), so I dodged a bullet.

Well now I know why he's wants to get back with you because you're smart.

You can see it's a form of manipulation especially by using your best friend instead of doing it himself he has to use somebody else that way maybe you will feel sorry for them I think you're on the right track stay your course you know it's going to end up bad anyway if you were to get together.

This is 9 out of every 10 men do this they go to the other side of the grass they think the grass is greener on the other side so they go out they find somebody when they're dating somebody anyway and then they put a big smile on their face and they leave

A few months down the road that girl sees who they truly are and they say bye-bye well now they're lonely boys they manipulated you before so of course they're going to try to go back to you stay your course I think you're being very smart

Well usually guys aren’t always direct persons a d can speak to a close person pf tveirs or a close person of a close person so in this case your friends to open up and spill the beans and or his regrets;he might also do that as a transport way or indirect communication between you and him!!

Personally I think he's playing games here. By telling your friend he wants her to tell you, and for you to feel sympathy and flattered that he's talking about you and missing you.

Don't fall for it. He left you for someone else and that's shitty. His loss. A relationship is dead after that.

Well it could be anything. Maybe it is true he really does regret dumping you. It could also be because the new partner proved to be the wrong partner. Or maybe he is alone now and wishes he was still with you.

I've come to a conclusion that he is an asshole !
A can put money down and say that it didn't work out with the other girl... and now all of a sudden he is sad and full of regret 🙄
I would block him, because Leppards dont change their spots.
And why is he the one hurting if he was the one that literally found someone else while you 2 were vibing?
