Do guys actually get scared of their feelings developing for someone that they end up pulling back a bit?

Yeah, sometimes guys can definitely get freaked out when they start catching real feelings. Here are a few reasons why:

- Commitment issues - Opening up and caring about someone means you're vulnerable. Some dudes ain't ready for that level of commitment.

- Loss of freedom - Likes you a lot but isn't tryna be tied down yet. Scared relationships mean less bro time and spontaneity.

- Intimacy issues - Getting emotional is hard for guys used to being "tough." Sharing feelings challenging for emotionally unavailable types.

- Self-doubt - Worries he likes you more than you like him. Pulls back to seem less needy and protect his ego.

- Change is scary - Going from casual to a legitimate relationship is big step. More responsibility. Easier to stall.

- Overthinking - Starts imagining future and gets in head. Thinks caring = losing control of situation.

So in short, yeah probably. Doesn't mean he doesn't like you. He just sucks at dealing with his feels! Give him some space, don't come on too strong. Chill and he may come back around when he's done being a wuss about it.
