I'm one to use YouTube or something for simple things. If I think it is going to be relatively easy I look at a video and give it a shot. I am maybe 70% effective this way.
Not really. Simple things like drain clogs and toilet valves. Iโve sanded and stained a deck and resealed the patio. Thatโs probably my limit. My talents lie elsewhere. 🤔😉😂
Well, this has been like my hobby.. i have this huge bag of tools with everything in it.. i can fix most of the things, electricity , wood, water tapes and other stuff, when you see me working you won't believe i am a doctor 😀
lol, it is really ! we rarely order a professional handy man in my house, but this has come with a cost.. when i was child , i electrified myself like hundreds of times , and many sets that i claimed that i will fix ended up dead :D , i was a disaster in my childhood..
I would say so. I have laid ceramic wall and floor tiles, laid laminate wood flooring, lino and carpet, I can decorate so yeah not bad for an amateur DIYer lol 🤣
YouTube is a great tool to have for how to videos lol. I have laid about 6 laminate floors to date I would say, not as a job but as favours for people I know. Lol
I try to do all my maintenance on my own. Specialists can be terribly expensive. I've fixed toilets, I've replaced plenty of car parts, I'm handy with a soldering iron, I can do a thing or two.
You and me both. I'm not going to try and rewire the garbage disposal but simple fixes like a leaky faucet or plugged drain I will hit the YouTube and give me 30 minutes I'll get it solved. Just the simple things though.
I am as of recently. Had to strip a house down to studs and redo flooring, walls, doors, windows, appliances, basically electrical stuff, cabinets, paint, etc. Heating/furnace repairs and soldering water lines are outside my wheelhouse though.
I'm an Engineer by trade, and cross trained on electrical, plumbing, small DIY jobs I'll do, but as I'm renting from a Social Landlord any major work has to be done by accredited Electrician/Plumber.

I try to be. Our landlord handles a lot of the major stuff though. Hopefully when we get our own house, I can learn more.
Yeah I rent too. I just try and use YouTube for simple things. Leaky faucet... clogged drain... stuff like that.
Yeah, that's about the extent of it for me too.
Pretty handy. I can fix almost everything on a car or house except the stuff you need specialized extremely expensive tools for
I'd say that is handy.
Honestly if I had time to learn all the skills involved and they gave me an instruction book, I could probably build a fucking space shuttle

You'd be surprised how easy most of that stuff is once you've done it

That is still being handy tho!
@_Maya_ you a very kind. ๐
No. I have poor craftsmanship skills. I do watch YouTube videos to learn sometimes but I just don't like dealing with craftsmanship stuff.
Have no desire to be messing around with tools and getting on the floor.
Yeah I do the YouTube thing for simple stuff.

Yep I head to YouTube and then give it a go myself. I am talking simple fixes around the apartment.
YouTube is a great tool to have for how to videos lol. I have laid about 6 laminate floors to date I would say, not as a job but as favours for people I know. Lol
That is a hell of favor.
Yep. Sure is lol. It was mainly family, a few for myself and a couple for friends ๐

Truth! Had it not been for the gift of the Internet and YouTube, I'd be deep in the hole.
You and me both. I'm not going to try and rewire the garbage disposal but simple fixes like a leaky faucet or plugged drain I will hit the YouTube and give me 30 minutes I'll get it solved. Just the simple things though.
Best investments I make are tools for jobs like that.

I can do simple things. I don't know that many yet though
YouTube is my friend for that stuff.
Amen to that. I found a guy that has an entire channel teaching this stuff.
I guess, I am. I do about all the cleaning. My dad fixes things.
I learned a lot from my dad but anymore YouTube is a huge help.
@_Maya_ Dad and I use youtube for the same reason.
My dad was - unfortunately I didnโt learn as much from him as I wanted to 😞
Aww but never too late to start learning. I figured out how to fix some simple stuff in the apartment from YouTube lol.
Yes I can pretty much do anything except gas stuff,,,
Nice and yeah wouldn't want to mess with that and make a mistake.
indeedy, but you can only ever make one serious mistake lol,,,
Excellent point lol
Gas is easy, just pressure test your lines
I am Very Independent and Handy in some Things as Long as Not to Very Difficult where I'd Need Help. xxoo
Yeah, but I'm flat out until after Christmas, so give me a shout then and I might be able to complete your job then.
I surely am miss bartender maya
I can nearly fix everything around the house 😌
I can fix drinks
Haha, well you can fix for me a cold fresh pepsi drink or a fresh natural orange juice ๐
Iโm hand myself or get my dad if I my dad canโt we pay someone. For professional things.

Oh wow, the UK has so many rules
Iโm no expert but I do consider myself handy.
Hey if you can get stuff done that's what matters. Thanks!
