What do you expect when you pay for dinner?

Let’s say friends r meeting up with dinner and the guy offers to pay instead of splitting, would he expect something in return or is it truly a nice gesture.
How often would guys assume they expect smthn in return for paying dinner? Like U hear jokes about guys paying the bill if they get head but do most guys think that way?

No one should expect anything, if someone offers, it’s an act of kindness and generosity. Otherwise it’s really just a cheap proposition.

if she appreciates the gesture and wants to get to know the payer then that’s a follow on step that she can choose, or not.

Of course, meals are so much more expensive, while dating is much more tedious with metoo (less public approaches), and online dating is just a plastic and styrofoam dumpster fire. I just don't pay unless I'm already sleeping with someone to clear that misunderstanding up.
