Guy friend is too dependent on me?

It isn't even funny how dependent he is. He always goes to me when he has problems and tells me im the only one who can understand him. I Have a lot on my plate and he expects a big emotional support consistently from me. I wonder what is with him as my other friends are not like this. So far I've tried deactivating but when i reactivate my social media account he is there messaging again.

How is this fair to have this as if his problems and his emotions are my responsibility? Why is he becoming like this? This isn't healthy.

No it isn't healthy. It isn't your responsibility either. My guess at your age is he is trying an all too familiar tactic which is to get you sympathetic for him and then merge the friendship to something else. Of course I could be totally wrong and he could just be a needy person. Fact is no matter the case you got to put your foot down. You want to support frends but at your age your are right. You likely have a lot going on for yourself and need to focus on yourself. That's what he has to understand. Just be honest and it doesn't have to be in a mean way. Tell him all the things you have to deal with and hope he understands.

Poor kid. He sounds like he needs to toughen up a bit. At 18 I was already married with a job and my own place. Maybe he has too much time on his hands.
