Sometimes I notice when a girl is walking past to grab a weight in the gym area the man will move himself even if he’s nowhere near her. Even ones I saw just stop working out completely until she walked past. Not all girls though just the cute ones?

Sadly I have to agree with the only sentence I read in the answers to this question before writing this. Things have gotten so ridiculous in society these days that men instinctually avoid getting into any situation where a woman can accuse him of some kind of devious or harassing sexual behavior. In the gym, women are scantily clad and wearing tight fitting outfits. That is stimulating to a man, probably more than the women realize. Men are designed this way. It's nature. So he feels he is in an environment where he needs to avoid showing any kind of interest so he won't be accused of deviant behavior. It's not so much a conscious thought on the man's part it is just his learned reaction to that kind of environment because society has gotten so crazy about accusing men of sexual harassment, perversion, etc. When a man finds himself in an environment like that, he wants to avoid any chance of something like that happening to him. So that probably explains that when a woman comes too close, he feels he better move away so there will be no chance of her accusing him of staring or worse.
Another reason might be that he is there to actually get a serious workout and having scantily clad women in tight fitting outfits near you isn't conducive to that. Too much distraction.
I think that one or the other or both of these may explain the majority of what you are observing.
When she walks by, he has to concentrate on not staring at her... so he can't concentrate on the working out. So he stops what he is doing until the temptation passes by.
I would say it is a combination of being polite if they’re near where ever the other person is going or they might be worried about staring if they find the girl attractive, especially if she is dressed provocatively. It’s better to just remove yourself from any potential issue that might arise. You see so many videos etc of women blasting guys at the gym for doing basically nothing (obviously in the cases of the guy being a creep he would deserve it) and nobody wants to be on the receiving end of that

The guy is protecting himself from any kid of accusations that could arise. Even the slightest accidently touch could be misconstrued as rape in today's metoo world.
This is the same reason why men no longer approach women at bars , clubs , coffee shops , or at the gym anyplace else since now everything and anything is sexual harassment. If some women accuses a man at the gym he could get banned and well what if he likes that gym? What if there are no other gyms in his town? What if it is the only gym he can afford?
Girls make accusations for everything nowadays. It's crazy they come in all this tight ass clothing that literally shows all their curves and expect men not to look or even glance their way. Hell, they even wear yoga pants that goes right up the crack of their ass nowadays. And they say they don't wear it for attention... MY ASS they don't. It's natural to be attracted to it. But if I can avoid that situation, I definitely will.
I prefer just doing calisthenics at home or at a park late at night when no one is out.
Women are setting up cameras, then intentionally working out in front of guys, then blasting the guys on social media if they even glance in the direction of the girl wearing spray-painted-on clothes. Some have reported the men to the gym management, who tend to automatically side with the women, and men have been kicked out of the gym (permanently) for perhaps glancing her direction once or twice.
Men don't need that kind of hassle, so they are actively avoiding being around the women. In fact, there's a lot of gyms closing because men are quitting gyms and working out at home just to avoid this, and because gym memberships are down, gyms are having to close.
I understand this is happening but in realistic, real life situations in the gym, it’s not. The gym I go to has no women setting up tripods and it’s a huge, commercial gym. The tripod culture is a little exaggerated obviously for comedic purposes and most women who workout at gyms aren’t influencers so I don’t really take YouTube videos seriously.
That's fair enough - but there ARE still women making complaints about men who in most cases have done nothing but perhaps glance in the woman's direction a couple of times, and men just don't want that kind of hassle. Even if they aren't going to social media, they can still complain to the gym, and they still have the gym siding with them in most cases, no matter how much (or little) merit her complaint has.

Like I said, this is internet stuff and since it’s where you spend most of your time, I guess it’s become reality to you but I can tell you right now that real women, NOT INFLUENCERS WHO ARE OBVIOUSLY ATTENTION CRAZED rarely say anything nor care. I feel uncomfortable around women in the gym simply because I'm there to work out. Not there to socialize. And when women wear tight fit racey clothes it's like oh great I can quite literally see everything and it just makes me want to go to the gym when not many people, women particularly, are there.
Because many gym girls are toxic nowadays. Any little thing and she will say that the guy is being a "creep". A simple glance is considered "creepy" nowadays. It's usually the ones that are filming themselves that are the most toxic and the ones guys avoid the most.
It is courteous to make way for a girl rather than elbowing her aside to get at the weights first. From the way you are describing it, I think they want to check the girl out (you did say only the cute girls).
When I give way to a female pedestrian I always wait for her to clear the road. It is not because I think she might do something unexpected as a child might. No. I want to check out her ass as well as her tits so I need to wait.

Some women (a lot of women, honestly) will interpret guys doing the smallest things as the guy trying to do something inappropriate at gyms, and men simply don't want to take any chances any more.
Because most guys have become aware there's plenty of cute girls who go to the gym only to trap them on video posting them on social media while making it look like they're creeps.
Unfortunately guys are generally too unconfrontational and choose to back off hoping she will just leave him be rather than ask her not to invade his personal space.

Yeah, and then if men had to do that gyms around the world would have to close down for losing about 60% of it clients. Far more appropriate would be if women who were out to create drama with their filming had their memberships canceled and were expelled from the gyms. That would be a far greater service to society.

Two things come to mind. I like my space and want to do the exercise safely. And I've seen some women trying to shame men for views and while those men didn't do anything wrong. So to avoid an injury, accident or just getting accused over nothing, clearing space is the way to go.
Cause y'all have turned men into creeps for anything we do, even looking around the gym, or noticing you because we find u pretty or ur shape is nice and we look for a second can get us kicked outta thr gym or exposed all over on tiktok as a creep. So to avoid I don't even look at women in the gym and keep my distance & actually put my head down when walking pass women in the gym. This is just men's proper etiquette towards women in the gym.

I don’t know. When all the TikTok videos started putting guys on blast for even glancing at women I cancelled my membership. A couple friends and I put some money together to build a basic one in one guys business shop. It’s worked out great.

Keep in mind that there wouldn’t be a gym creep argument if it didn’t happen enough to be significant. Plenty of creepy men at the gym. And since those men exist, the culture of blaming all men for the actions of some men exists.
Just as avoiding all modern women for the actions of some women exists. You wanted to know why guys are avoiding women at the gym like they have the plague. It is because they do have the plague. At every gym that allows any form of cameras men have been accosted and accused of so many things simply for existing and these women do it proudly even when they are wrong, lying, manipulating the situation to try and garner a response. The number of men that are creepy at a gym is actually near zero. How do I know? Because gyms with rules that prevent any and all camera usage have very few women and those women have no issues with the men. The only gyms that have "creeps" are ones where filming/photography is allowed because wait for it... women are setting themselves up to be victims by dressing in skimpy clothes. As in they are intentionally trying to get guys to look so they can record him and post him online. Presuming you won't actually watch it I'll explain the video. The guy in the video is blind as in literally blind can't see a damn thing has the medical card and everything. He was accosted by a woman because he was "staring" at her. He explained he is blind she ran out a whole load a bs got the manager of the place involved. He once again explained he is blind and can not see shit. He was kicked out of the gym. For what you may be wondering? Apparently the medical team that issued his blind card is wrong because apparently he isn't blind according to that woman. I tried my best to explain the set up of the gym as detailed as possible and still we have people like you who choose to still respond ignorantly. Like MOST GYMS, there’s a mirror in front of the weight section, then the benches. You have a huge gap between the weights and the benches. I am not in ANYONES WAY.
Why does the layout of the gym matter? Everyone does make way when someone is trying to pass especially on a narrow space. It's common sense
