I text a lot of people I haven’t talked to in a very long time merry Christmas. Both men and women. Some I’m on so so ground with.
This included a girl who turned down a marriage proposal from (we were not in love but friends. It was over a money issue). She stopped talking to me after I made my decision. She really wanted it but it was just too risky all considered for a whole multitude of reasons. She did say Merry Christmas back.
Anyway this is just a term of endearment. It’s well meaning. Society is losing this too and that’s not good. But still even if you aren’t in the best graces with the person it show they still think of you positively about something. That’s not a bad thing.
You must have made a lasting impression on them that's a good thing, to know that your thought of that much by brief encounter, you must have a beautiful personality to remain in heart and minds of those you encounter, don't question it just continue being you, maybe next x mass out of nowhere I'll be wishing you happy holidays
Is that a problem for you, having someone say Merry Christmas? It's just something people tell each other at Christmas. I wouldn't look too deeply into it for any other meaning.
Because it's a season and it's nice to send and receive best wishes. Enjoy and replay if you like the sender

A guy can't win. If he is genuinely polite he's accused of being sexual/pervy/needy. If he ignores/skips recognizing a woman then he's accused of being "cold" even tho she's doing the same thing. It's why many of us advise guys not to be friends with women.
@hahahmm
I agree 💯 with you! I am an older woman but I remember the days before sexual harrasment days.
I worked at the phone company with 150 guys, young and old. I was the only female in the office so you know I got teased like the Dickens. But I knew they were just messing with me. I just used to answer them "Only in your dreams"
We used to pull pranks on each other every day. It kept the merriment going on in the office. It seemed like 5:00 never came fast enough. So joking around was a welcomed reprieve.
But now a days, some of these women are a joke! If you accidentally brush by while walking and have touched them in anyway it's a court case and you lose your job.
The Me Too movement is a fricken joke. Unless these women were actually sexually raped with penile penetration, then they have a court case.
Maybe I just see men in a different way than the Me Tooers.
Have we lost the art of simply being polite? Would you rather they didn't message?
Surely they dont have to speak to you weekly to send a Christmas message.
Happy New Year by the way..
I never heard from them last year but suddenly I've heard from loads of guys (they don't know each other)
Thank you. Happy New year to you
Happy New Year to you molonski2
(a bit early, but still)
You don't have to be a woman to get good wishes :)
Thanks @RandomUser1000 very much appreciated..
And a Happy New Year and wonderful 24 to you also.
It's simply a tradition, and is usually taught as etiquette and politeness (in circles where such things are still taught), much like sending thank-you notes.
Just the same way I might say "happy holidays" to the UPS driver or the girl at the drive-thru window at this time of the year, it's just simple politeness and "spreading Christmas cheer" to everyone. You shouldn't read anything more into that.
Exactly!
I sent out a load of Merry Christmas over WhatsApp including those I rarely chat to, I get them from similar, it’s the season to be friendly. Will do the same for New Year’s Eve. for me it would be weird sending out a hello to people I rarely speak to, so Christmas makes it okay.
Maybe you are RebelinChristmas :)
Aww thats cute! What is wrong with that?
Isn't it better to wish a happy Merry Christmas instead of sending you dick pics?
If it bothers you that those guys wrote to you, then why did you add them? Just delete or block them.
I never heard from them last year but suddenly I've heard from loads of guys (they don't know each other)
Well Christmas makes people reflekt a bit on themself and wish everybody merry Christmas even if they are strangers.
Perhaps they are hinting that they would like to have a merry time with you?
My first thought. I was surprised a woman in her mid-30s would even be asking this question.
Then again, some people are just like that. They go through their contacts and message almost everyone. Like those people who send holiday cards, but you rarely hear from them the rest of the year.
Doesn't matter the reason, as it is a sweet gesture. Just wish them back and see what happens 😊
I send Happy birthday, Happy valentines, Happy Easter, Happy midsummer, Happy Halloween, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to Basically everyone I have in my contacts or on messenger etc... even people I barely know. And I think this is quite common to do.
At first I thought it was because they wanted to smash. But from what it sounds like it’s just during the holidays. So it may just be that they’re being polite, haven’t forgotten about you as a “friend.” Maybe one or two of them likes you as more than a friend.
I BCC that message to over 100 people a year. It takes very little effort on my part to include you in the checked boxes for the distro. Don't read anything into it. It doesn't make you special it just means he's polite.
That's normal, I get those texts from different people that I no longer talk to everyday. It's nice..
Looking for acknowledgement and the off-chance they'll get a booty call. Like chicks who post duck-face T&A photos in a grungy bathroom mirror.
Some of these guys live abroad
I never heard from them last year but suddenly I've heard from loads of guys (they don't know each other)
Still looking for acknowledgement.
I would have to say because it is A polite thing to do, and if you are friends with them on social media, then you probably know them of some degree I would imagine, but if not, it could be an easy way to open a conversation with somebody that you want to talk to.
Its a sign they have not forgotten you in the happy times of the year and they are hoping you have a great new year
They just may have good vibes going into the holiday season or want to stay in touch... kinda like a Christmas card
I think there could be two reasons:
Either they are interested in you and see a chance to write to you and see if they get a response. Or they message lots of people to be nice.
🤣 I had just the 1 text me merry Christmas. He's 68 older then my dad, so no.
Are you British?
Maybe they schedule a yearly text to be nice and aren't really thinking much about you at all.
Well they didn't think of me last year bit suddenly did this year
You might be thinking way too much over this but I can tell you there's one way to find out for sure. It isn't asking us because we don't know these people let alone their intentions. You have to ask them.
It's a season of love so obviously they don't want to be rude by not doing the necessary.
It's the polite thing to do and takes little time
Because they are going through their phone sending texts to everyone. Why is this hard to understand?
I never heard from any of them last year. These guys don't know each other
Maybe they have the habit of wishing merry Christmas to everyone on their contact list.
I do that w girls I regularly sleep w to keep the line of communication open
Use it as an opportunity to converse with them and maybe find the answer.
They probably send merry Christmas to most of their contacts.
You’ve given them access to you. If it bothers you, block them.
Maybe cause they are just in the Christmas spirit.
Because they wanted to be nice and spread Christmas cheer.
They probably think you're lonely, so they want to cheer you up and let you know that you have friends and you are not forgotten.
They're just being nice. Just say, "Thanks. You as well." and move on.
Because it seems like the nice thing to do. Like all the Happy Birthday messages on FB.
Sometimes some people just like to throw out some holiday spirit. For some people receiving such messages makes their morning or day.
your in there phone book and lazy men send it to all the phone book, sorry.
Maybe they want to keep in touch just in case something changes
They want some holiday pussy! Nah it's just to be nice or perhaps just a mass text.
Maybe they are just being friendly? Or trying too.
I never heard from them last year but suddenly I've heard from loads of guys (they don't know each other)
It's called polite socially acceptable behavior! Say Thank you and wish them the same.
"Peace on earth, and good will towards woMEN". Duh😆
I WOULDN'T READ TO MUCH INTO IT
because that is polite.
A custom. Good manners.
I never heard from them last year but suddenly I've heard from loads of guys (they don't know each other)
Maybe because they don’t want to talk to you
That doesn't make sense
Oh, I read it too fast that’s my mistake. They just wishing you a happy holidays. Don’t make something out of nothing.
That's normal. Doesn't mean anything.
Coz they want u to talk to them more
It's called, "Just being nice".
You can disable messaging on your phone.
They are being considerate
Booty call.
You up? e
The don't want to talk to you. They don't like u
Not sure!
Happy new year!
Just to be nice.
Block them
