Why do men call women their “bitch”?

This applies to men you’re in some sort of relationship with romantically. Is there a reason other than just “joking” that you would refer to your significant other as your “bitch”? In any situation

Outside of a BDSM setting (with a partner who desired such talk), I would never speak that way about a woman. To do so is what I call "ghetto values" (this isn't a racial thing - it applies to lower-class people of all races). And you'll find it's common - and goes both ways - in ghetto areas with ghetto values.

I grew up straddling the line of lower-middle and middle-class, but I was definitely brought up with good morals and values and among those is that every person deserves a base level of respect by default - at least until they prove otherwise. "Ghetto values" is literally "everyone is looking out for themselves exclusively." It's not at all uncommon for people in ghetto areas to steal from their own friends, families, and neighbors - because they are simply not taught to have good morals and values. There's no guilt or shame from stealing or vandalizing or hurting others, so of course, no one cares about hurting people's feelings with a name.

If you are around people who do this, you need to find a better class of people to be around. And I understand that that may not be easy, or something you can change quickly, but it should be your goal.

Well first off not all men do that. Second chances are whatever men were in his life growing up may have done the same. So it’s learned. Maybe the type of music he listens too, which I’m going to say is mainly rap. Not too many types of music I can think of where women are called whores or bitches other than rap. Maybe he has a hatred of women to a degree. Especially if he’s been screwed over by a number of them. Some social media influencers may have influenced him. Maybe he feels as though he owns her, so in a way that’s a derogatory term to show ownership in his eyes.

Only a certain kind of guy would refer to her as his bitch. Those guys would be the "tough" guys. Maybe rides a motor cycle with the hell's angel's. Certain ethnic groups refer to their woman as their bitch. This is MY bitch!

For instance some other guy is flirting with her. He'd walk up to the guy and say "Listen, she's MY bitch, so you better back off"!

It depends on the context of your relationship. For some it’s said in jest. No one has referred to me as their bitch, even as a joke. I don’t like being ‘their anything’. Much prefer the Mrs or my other half. My ex used to refer to me as his lady. It was said in quite a formal way which I didn’t mind.
