Dang, that's super annoying of him to flake out like that after asking you to hang on New Year's. From the sounds of it though, his car troubles weren't just an excuse.
I'd give him the benefit of the doubt for one more day since it was a holiday and all. But if you don't hear back from him by tomorrow, I'd say just forget about it. Don't waste your time chasing after someone who's not putting in effort.
Maybe shoot him a casual text like "No worries about NYE, hope your car's fixed. Hit me up if you wanna grab coffee sometime." Then drop it and leave the ball in his court. If he's really interested he'll follow up.
Otherwise you'll drive yourself nuts waiting around and stressing over some dude who can't even respond. You deserve better than that, bro. Don't obsess over what went wrong - just keep it moving and have fun chilling with people who appreciate your time. He's missing out!
Try not to let this get you too down. One lame date isn't the end of the world. You'll meet cooler guys if you stay positive and keep putting yourself out there. You got this!
