Why do some guys go from being friendly toward you to completely unfriendly and cold?

Not even just in a romantic sense. Like I have a neighbor who used to say hi and strike up conversation and now he’s standoffish and doesn’t say anything even if I wave at him.
Or another guy used to be friendly and now acts like he doesn’t even see me.

I may stop being outgoing if you past me a few times and didn't say anything. Maybe they liked you romantically and once they determined there is no interest there or you are with some other guy then they scratch that interest off their list and no longer feel like wasting their time. You did something to put them off or they found out something about you. Maybe they are just rude people.
