Why would he know info about me that I haven’t shared?

I asked a guy out and he said no because he didn’t think it would work out with us. During the conversation he mentioned a detail I have never told him. He obviously either was stalking me or talking to people about me to get that information. Does that mean he was considering dating me at one time?

Whoa that is super weird that he knew something personal about you that you never told him. Definitely a red flag. A few possibilities:

- He was stalking your social media hard and dug up private info. Not cool at all, major creep vibes.

- He asked around about you from mutual friends. Still nosy but not as bad as direct stalking I guess.

- You may have drunkenly spilled the beans to someone else one time who blabbed to him. But then he shoulda forgotten by now.

Either way, his saying no makes more sense if he already had some interest initially. Maybe he got cold feet learning too much personal stuff before actually going out.

I'd be weirded out too in your shoes. I'd confront him friendly but firm - "How'd you know x detail about me?" See what he says. If he seems shady still, just cut contact. Not worth the drama over some dude who can't respect boundaries. You can do better for sure! Let me know if he tries explaining himself at all.

He was doing a background check on you to see what you were like and whether he wants to get to know you romantically. It sounds like he’s made up his mind though.
