I had this guy tell me once my job isn’t prestigious and said I don’t make good money. I literally was 25 making 140K+.

Because many people lie online. They create false identities and enjoy exploring this alternate life and others' reactions to them. This puts others on edge and on guard. No one wants to be seen as a gullible pussy, so people tend to err on the side of challenging others.

Because the term Aerospace Engineer has been used for decades as a cliché, pat response to numerous questions comparing something difficult to something easy. Similar to, "Hey, at least it's not brain surgery".

The fact that you seem to be mad about it really just confirms that you don't understand this, and/or are not familiar with this term and its joke use. You are not a joke, and this is your actual profession, but it is frequently used as a joke, or extreme point of comparison.

Autistic people tend not to lie, or to like to lie. They don't like all the social nuance that society and others seem to require. It's frustrating to them. But all people have to deal with these things, and don't enjoy it, feeling like we have to cater to others' sensitivities. But with autistics' lack of understanding compounding this, it is particularly problematic.

Probably the same reason I have had people say silly things like "you aren't a scientist" people would rather believe you are lying because then it lends weight to their delusions and stupidity. If they acknowledge you are in fact what you say you are then it means you likely know what you are talking about and they can't handle being educated because it goes against the popular buzzword garbage they inhaled for breakfast

maybe it is some sexist thing. Truthfully I majored in computer science and there really was not too many girls in the class. One time on the first day of class there was this hot looking blonde that was sitting in the front row, My friend pointed at her and tells me to check out the new student. I told him that she was probably in the wrong class. He told me I was nuts. The professor comes in and writes his name and the name or the class. This blonde picks up all her books and leaves the room.
