What Guys Said
Sorry things ended, I'm sure you still care about him. So personally I don't think there is any particular positive meaning in it. Exes do strange things all the time that make you wonder if there are still some feelings or longing there, but the way I see it: if a person really loves, likes, and cares about you, they are still going to be with you, and I am assuming that he is the one who ended the relationship since his actions make you question things.
You said last time you talked was 10 months ago. I know there are cases of exes getting back together months later or even more than a year, but that stuff is not common, and I think if there was still any hope for reconciliation it would've happened by now. Best thing to do is not stay stuck in the past caring about someone who isn't caring about you. You don't want to be there. Let him go and move forward with your life.
It's hard to say for sure what his specific intentions or feelings were in that moment. People react differently to unexpected encounters, and it's possible he may have been caught off guard or felt awkward. However, it's also possible that he was simply acknowledging your presence without any deeper meaning attached. If you're curious about his behavior, it might be worth considering reaching out to him to have a conversation and gain clarity.
I wasn't aware of the staring protocol for ex boyfriend's. So he is required to look away first because he dumped you? Where did that evolve?
