According to studies π, men stopped smiling at 5 years old. But they will smile when they see someone or something they like or makes them happy. Is this true or false?
If I'm in a good mood I smile sometimes I think of funny things that happen in my past that makes me smile people that try too aggravate me makes me smile 🤣

I used to smile a lot. So much that people used to make remarks - "what makes you smile so much?" "How can you be this happy without any reason?" "Smiling for no reason is a sign of losing sanity". I was genuinely happy back then.
A lot has changed since then. Life changed so drastically, I literally lost every reason to be happy. So much that the people who knew me back then, noticed the visible change. Now, I rarely smile. You'll rarely see me interact with people. I tend to keep to myself. Don't engage much with people. I quit most social media. I stopped talking to people who took me for granted, and I realised, there wasn't anyone to begin with. Everyone was there as long as I tried. As soon as you stop, you realize, there's no one. Not even one.
I disagree with what's mentioned in the question though. I do smile. A lot less than before, but I still do. My current profile picture has me smiling. It was taken last month when I went on a trip to a hill-station with a couple of people I got acquainted with while staying out of town. It was my first trip in two years and probably the first time I enjoyed a little after some shitty events since last February.

+1 yI smile countless times every day. Life is good. I always smile at other racers when we pass on out-and-backs. Hell that alone could be towards thousands of people in a few hours if it's one of the bigger marathons. Is that one smile or a bunch? Non race days I may smile at 30 people at the grocery store and/or cafe. Smile at people at redlights, walking down the sidewalk. I get home and go into my conservatory to check out my dwarf citrus plants, typically that makes me smile. My rescue kittens make me smile countless times a day when I'm around them. I can look out the windows at my land and smile when the baby raccoons frolic by the stream. I smile if I have a good supply of firewood for the winter. I smile if I tried a new recipe and it turned out really well. I smile when I'm sharing any of those moments with a special lady.
I survived a major car wreck, an IED, bullet wound to the leg, armor shot twice, a stabbing, two assassination attempts, been shot at more times than I can count. Nobody died today.
I'm recovering nicely (objectively, but still slower than I'd like though) from a major heart attack that nearly killed me. My cardiologist is thrilled that I do races wearing 30-40lbs. I successfully completed 67 races last year and have several milestone races lined up for this year.
I'm smiling right now because it's already unlikely to be another one of THOSE days.

+1 yI actually have a case of the Resting Happy/Smiling Face where people have a tendency to ask me, "Why are you so cheerful?" when I'm not. 😅
I also have all these associated symptoms here:
https://metro.co.uk/2016/01/15/18-things-only-people-with-resting-happy-face-will-know-5618868/That said, I used to have Resting Bitch Face when I was a teenager where I got people asking me the opposite question, "Why are you so upset?" when I wasn't.
As for why I do it, its not a conscious thing so it's hard to figure out why for sure. However, when I was a teenager, I was extremely serious all the time with anger issues and negative thinking patterns. So I think my default mood might have been a bit negative even if I didn't consciously realize it.
Then I started studying about Stoicism and learned a lot about how to think very positively and productively, cultivating a sense of inner calm and joy. It seems like putting that into practice and starting to think very positively and cheerfully changed even my default body language to the point where I went from Resting Bitch Face to Resting Happy Face.
So I'm always smiling these days. I have to be genuinely upset not to smile.

Actually have some photo comparisons. Like this is me as a boy from kindergarten graduation. We didn't smile:
![Guys, how often do you smile? What makes a man smile?]()
I'd have to be really happy to smile back then but I didn't understand how to think very positively and cheerfully. Then below is me in my early 20s after I started to study more about Stoicism and became more Stoic even caught off-guard with someone taking my photo when I didn't realize (was just looking at a menu). Here I don't think I even intended to smile; this is just like my default expression.![Guys, how often do you smile? What makes a man smile?]()
But if you asked me at a boy about life, I would have said it's awful and miserable. In my 20s after studying Stoicism, I would have told you it's amazing and wonderful. My whole mindset changed.
+1 yInteresting question - I actually only ever smile when someone makes me laugh or when i'm talking to someone I like or a co-worker. SO maybe only a very few times a day. Most of the time I'm neutral and straight faced rarely ever smile to myself.
I've never actually though about this before 🤔

+1 yRarely. I only smile when I laugh or greet someone at my job. Otherwise I just have a straight stoic face or RBF as some call it.

No. Still a straight faced person during conversation. Usually I only laugh when it comes to talking about funny things. Otherwise smiling is just not something I am use to doing or enjoy doing that much.

@Pinay_ako
Well to be honest when I read love stories that end on a mysterious note.
By God's grace, I have a good set of teeth and a natural smile everytime I have something joyful around me. Sometimes, there is a dimple on my cheek too that appears. I see myself a cute happy face. So in my case, this study contradicts well.

+1 yi can't speak for all men, but for me it's a long look. don't confuse that with staring.
a girl who looks around is open. it doesn't mean you.
hold the moment with a smile and that means something.
