The guy don’t want relationship with me but can’t afford rejection from me as well?

The guy, we know for years. He says he doesn’t want relationship but is somehow very possessive of me.
However he can’t face rejection from me well. As in he takes everything as ego.

Even the slightest No from me hurts him pretty much. However he seems to not behave like this with others.
