I could follow anyone on here right now, would that make me wanting something from them or having a concrete reason? or do people just do that on here, for a huge variety of reasons, including idly following someone because they followed them. I find the latter to be correct.

Seriously, I aprechiate everyone see stuff differently (and respect your feeling there's some reason for him), and respect for your way of seing this (it obviously matters to you), but I hope you might come to understand that your projecting here with that.
