Why does he never text me first but always responds quickly and is engaged in the convo?

I randomly texted my crush for the first time out of the blue a couple of months ago and we texted for a couple of hours. Since then I’ve initiated texting him about 4-5 other times (every week or two), a few of those also being 2-3 hour longs text convos and the others being quick questions or general comments about something specific. When we talk he usually replies immediately or close to it and is engaged in the convo.

We have one class together at school and he’s always talking to me only, trying to be close to me, making me laugh, staring a lot, flirty etc. I can also tell he purposely tries to stay close to me anytime we’re in the halls and his friends (and sometimes he) will even look back at me and whisper to him.

Up until recently I don’t think he has had much of a clue I liked him, however I’ve made some comments and flirted a lot more over the past couple of weeks that should make it pretty obvious now.

I know that there are few guys that have told people they have crushes on me one of which is a good friend of mine, so not sure if he’s wondering if I might like others?

I mean he has no obligation to text me since we’re not together. However, I was hoping by me initiating so many times it would help him realize I want to chat with him and I like him then he would reciprocate.

One thing you always have to remember when you choose to pursue someone, is that it’s your choice. Meaning you know that you’re at a place in life where you’re ready to date someone, but that doesn’t mean they are as well.


This guy can be at least somewhat aware that you’re interested, and he probably enjoys your chats or feels attraction towards you. However, it does not mean he’s also at a place in his life where he wants to be seeing someone, and I think his actions relay that fairly well. As of now, you are the one chasing (no offense with that word choice) without receiving the same efforts from him.


If I were you, I would’ve only needed a couple times of initiating and carrying these conversations along with showing clear interest before I got the message. I’d back off, and see if he reaches out a few times on his own. How he acts would be truly telling.
