It never meant that, for me.
I know that, sometimes, your initial impression of someone might not be all that favourable but they CAN grow on you to the point where you'd love to be their lover!
There was this girl that was hanging out with my band for a while. She was chubby, had a really scrappy voice that could peel paint, she smoked clove cigarettes like a chimney and she wore the most bizarre make up (she would use her eyeliner to go past the edge of her eyes and draw huge black spirals on the sides of her face!) and she wasn't even very pretty to begin with! For me, she had everything going against her but, not long after I met her, I fell in love with her!!
THAT'S what, "Let's see where this goes" means.

That's false, especially as an absolute. To most men (we usually communicate openly) it means initial interest with the intent to proceed at a certain speed. Now at the end of that road it could still fail, because of what you found out about each other. But that's not a foregone conclusion.

I would say false. Many guys are afraid to put themselves out there in fear of getting hurt. So saying something like that is a way of protecting himself.
If it goes nowhere he can say” yea, I didn’t think it would go any where”. Men are mostly cowards these days.

He likes you but for whatever reason, he's not ready to commit to you. He may not be ready for a relationship, maybe he's not sure you're the right one for him, maybe he's not sure if he's the right man for you, or maybe there's some other reason.
