Because he wants your signature an if you feel a way about him leave a way to stay in touch if not signature would be fine. He probably likes you or respects you.

Oh he has my number and we follow each other on Instagram. So we definitely have ways to stay in touch. His job is literally across the street from mine now. I guess I’ll wait and see if he visits.

This is a phrase to emphasize how much he would appreciate if you were to sign the poster. He may like you, he may like the idea of having everyone's name on the poster. Probably a priori.
