Why did he say this?

When I was talking to my boyfriend this morning I mentioned I'm insecure about my speech impediment that I feel. dumb at times talking to him and mispronouncing words. He asked did that make me feel bad and then asked did I feel dumb because he went to college and got a good job. I was confused because I didn't mention college or his job and I'm proud of him for thisr things. They've never made me feel dumb. Did he do that to call me dumb or was it just talking and him trying to see how I feel about stuff? Cause he calls me smart constantly and everything so he's never treated me like I'm dumb or less because I didn't go to college. But now I'm confused why he randomly mentioned those things when my speech impediment has nothing to do with them

I'm not sure why he would bring that up, maybe he just wanted to point out that it is not important to him that you have one and shouldn't have to feel insecure just the same as he went to collage and you didn't. I don't think he meant anything bad with it. If you are not sure talk to him about it. But I will say this, I have a stutter, and sometimes talking to people can be challenging. I know.. I have learned to replace the words I stutter with with synonyms to communicate. And the fact that you say he has never treated you differently because of your speech impediment, calls you smart he really doesn't care that you have one and people like that are hard to find. Talk to him about it what he meant if it really bothers you, but all I can say from what I get from your question is that he doesn't care that you have one. He choose you and you are together. That should say something.

I think the best solution will be then to discuss it with him and ask what he meant by bringing that up.

Based on what you've said so far I think you brain is working overtime here thinking things that are probably not there. The fact that you were insecure about this conversation to begin with suggests that anything (save for the perfect) thing he said was going to leave you feeling suspicious.
