Was I stupid to reach out to her about my Depression?

all my life i have seen on tv & online saying if your depressed reach out to someone.
i have a slight case autism but its not that bad as i was able to hold down a job for six years.

but working 60 hours a week at the job i left march of last year very messed me up.

i reached out to a old high school teacher months ago last message she sent me months ago said i hope everything with me.

why are you told to reach out to someone if they dont care?

When they say to reach out to someone they also say other side people to listen others and help others if they need.

To work this system effectively both side people should be working appropriately.

Yes I agree there are many inconsiderate people out there in world or who are so busy that they have no time for others. Or who are unable to understand others. But there are also people who does understand ourselves, who cares who listen.

So reaching out to someone really helps us and is more effective way that's why they say to.

If you find no one such around you, you definitely can go for professionals they are out there to help you because this is the right way

Dude, I feel you on that. Reaching out is supposed to help, but it doesn't always work out how they say it will. Honestly man, you're not stupid for trying - it takes guts to open up about that kinda stuff.

A lot of people just don't know how to respond when someone talks about depression and mental health issues. Maybe your old teacher felt awkward or didn't know what to say. Doesn't mean she doesn't care at all - just that she's not equipped.

You're the one going through it, so don't be too hard on yourself for seeking help how they told you to. Next time maybe try someone who's closer, or see if there's support groups near you where people get it.

Keep your head up homie. You're dealing with a lot, but you've already showed you're strong getting through each day. It'll get easier - just gotta find the right people who give a crap to lean on too. You got this bro, just do you.

she also has depression when we talked months ago she told me it it was because she is not married & has no kids.

Ah I see man, that definitely complicates things. Sounds like she's struggling with her own depression too if she opened up about that. It's possible talking to you about her issues triggered her own stuff, and she didn't feel equipped to help you while dealing with her own depression. That's really unfortunate though.

At the end of the day you can't rely solely on one person, especially if they've got their own mental health challenges. As much as you were trying to reach out and help each other, depression is just really hard to handle alone. Don't let this discourage you from seeking support elsewhere too, like a therapist or support groups. There's no shame in getting professional help - they're trained to handle these situations. I have always been "blessed", word I hate, with a mother that has always been there for me. Well educated, always work in care (hospitals, schools etc) to help people. She has always helped me when I have had situations and periods like that, all I have to do is ask. HOWEVER, she will also always tell me that it is always better to talk to a proffesional. Not all of them are doing it just for the money.

When they say reach out to someone, they mean a mental health professional. Someone who is trained to help you. Someone who can provide you with resources etc. Certainly not a school teacher from your past.. that is very strange.
