Why guys suddenly pull away?

This guy and I have been conversing daily for a month. He even joked about us sharing a room. We are good friends, but I am not sure if he likes me.
That is, it was during a trip with our friends, it was the first time I meet him "he lives across the country." We spoke for five minutes after he left his buddies to say hello. He did not even look at me or say goodbye for the remainder of the journey. He behaved as though we are complete strangers.

What does this mean?

I feel like he’s making it pretty clear with his behavior that he isn’t romantically interested, but at the same time you never had that conversation to confirm. In the future, I’d really suggest asking the man what he’s looking for, or what are his intentions with talking to you. No matter what, you’re going to have to use your better judgment to see how genuine and consistent he actually is, and there will always be the possibility that you two aren’t compatible. But at least if he were to say he’s looking for a relationship as well, then there’s no confusion about what you are both working towards.

He was too kind to act as though he did not know my name, and when girls approach him and I am standing next to them, he will not look at me or include me in the conversation like he does with our girl friends "he's a sweet talker and so friendly". However, I did not ask him for a relationship either; we were just friends.

To be clear, I’m not implying that you ask him for a relationship. I mean asking a guy in the beginning what he’s looking for, or asking what his intentions are for talking to you. That way, if he does eventually want a relationship, then you know you’re both working towards that. Right now, since you guys haven’t established what exactly the “point” is in talking, you don’t know where his head is at. Nice guys get away with murder, because women deem them as a safe bet when in reality they can do worse than an asshole guy, they just have a smile on their face while they do it.

No honey, I’m basically saying that you should be asking what he’s looking for if you two continue talking. Right now there’s no direction and that’s why you’re confused. My advice has no mention of why he avoided you because I don’t know why. There’s no good reason for it.
