Men are programmed to want to protect women until they realize women are privileged and seek victimization for attention which leads to men hating them but men aren't allowed to hate them because they're women so men fear women but can't do that either because men are supposed to protect women
boys are protective towards the girls whom they like ask him why he is protective towards you and ask him do you like me as your girlfriend and do you like me as your sister then you will know the answer to your question
I think attraction and instinct play a big part in why that happens.
