I made a joke when my boyfriend asked if he looked like Batman or not, and it backfired?

My boyfriend sent me snaps of his body and asked me if he looked good, and I said yes. He then asked me if he looked like Batman or not, and I jokingly said, don't push it haha. He got offended and said that I was calling him ugly to his face, which I was not. I genuinely thought he'd join in on the joke, but now he's so offended he won't talk to me. What do I do to get him to talk to me again?

Batman? Seriously? What, the comic book version or the movie version? Even the actors who play Batman don't look like Batman without their sculpted costumes.

I cut fringes in a bed sheet, dyed it purple and wore it like a cape, thinking I was Batman when I was a little kid.

Maybe you should dump him. And whenever you see him in public say "Hi Batman" mockingly. Or "Look, here comes Batman!"

If that's all it took for him to treat you the way he is, it was just a matter of time. He has too many eggshells laying around his frail persona. I mean, he's using Batman still as his image. Maybe someone said something to him and he might be the sensitive type so what they sad got to him that's why he asked you because he trusts you and respects you and knows you'll be honest. Maybe in that situation the joke went to far because you don't know what caused him to be like that or maybe he is just too sensitive of a guy.
