So me and my ex fling have been broken up for months now. Anyways we hooked up 2 weeks ago and I left my perfum in his car. He sent me a photo of it two weeks ago and asked me if it was mine... "I told him yea and to just toss it". He said okay. Keep in mind this was two weeks ago and some days. Anyways I texted him a week ago asking if he still had my perfume and he said yeah, and that he thinks it's still in his car. He said the reason he still has it was because he hasn't cleaned out his car yet... so I texted him and told him could he give it back, he said yea... he still has yet to give me my perfume back, yet he liked a selfie/full body pic of me on instagram two days ago. Why hasn't he gave it back?

As of now that perfume is just an excuse to keep in contact. You can buy a new one, already you said he could toss it, so stick to that if you really mean for things to be over.

My main assumption would be after he sent the pic, he didn’t throw it right out, maybe got distracted and forgot about it. I think the answer you’re looking for is that he’s trying to keep in touch, and of course that can definitely be a thing, but it’s not well intended. He’s an ex fling, you just hooked up recently, then he’s liking a full body pic and not like a face selfie, it all ties into maintaining a sexual relationship. If that is what you want as well then there’s no point in beating around the bush with this whole perfume thing and you can just arrange your casual sex encounters. However if you want a deeper connection, it doesn’t sound like he’s offering it. The man can’t even remember what woman’s perfume could potentially have been left behind so he must have prospects. I just think that if you want more, it won’t be from him.
