Why would my male friend unfollow me on ig?

Were friend for about 2 years. We would talk a lot back and forth daily through messages. Until yesterday he unfollowed for no reason but continued to let me follow his account, so I unfollowed him too since I felt it was a dick move to do that without communicating if he felt upset about something. So today he went as far to block me. For me, I saw him as a friend nothing more. Any reason why he would unfollow yet let me continue following him and once he saw I had unfollowed him why would he block me? This is a 40 year old man keep in mind...

I should point, nothing offensive was said to him. We were talking the day before. Apparently something made him upset at home and I said if he wanted to talk about it, that it was completely up to him. He saw the message and unfollowed.

Girl that is super weird and immature behavior for a 40 year old man! A few thoughts on why he might've done that:

- He could've secretly caught feelings for you and unfollowing was his way of distancing himself since you only see him as a friend.

- Maybe something did happen at home that upset him unrelated to you, but he was taking it out passive aggressively online.

- Possibly he found a new girl he's talking to and didn't want her thinking he was close with other women on social media.

- Could be he misinterpreted one of your conversations and got offended even though you meant no harm.

The block is really petty though. Who does that? Clearly he has some issues with communication and handling his emotions in a mature way.

Honestly sis, you're probably better off without the unnecessary drama. Any "friend" who would block you out of nowhere isn't much of a friend. His loss! Don't even give it another thought.

You're so welcome girl! I'm always here if you need someone to talk to. Dealing with weird dude drama is the worst, but it says everything about their character and nothing about yours.

I know it can be sooo tempting to try and figure out what happened, but honestly some guys will never give you a straight answer even if you confronted them. Better to just brush it off and keep shining! Besides, who has time for games when we've got our own lives to focus on?

Feel free to vent to me any time - I'm super good at listening without judgment. But from now on, just try to avoid thinking about what his deal was. Let that loser be someone else's problem! Because he doesn't want to be friends anymore. You said or did something that made him feel that way. Or a girl in his life made him. No way for any of us to know. As for the mechanics of it all, only he would know. But it's also not relevant what buttons he clicked and in what order. What's relevant is that he doesn't want to be your friend now.
