Why are most men so insecure?

For the same reason most women are insecure. Because we are human. We have emotions and aren't sure, or aren't really willing, to accept our own value.

Take, for instance, an unattractive person. They either don't know, or can't accept, that they're unattractive, so they live in a sort of ether, where anything anyone says or does can affect their self worth. If they were to just accept that they're unattractive, then they'll stop caring about anything that might be a compliment or an insult. This is worse for women.

When it comes to relationships, everyone is insecure because they know that their partners want an upgrade. Instead of just living life and hoping it doesn't happen, they dwell on this and start getting worried when they see opportunities for their partners to cheat and/or replace them. This is worse for men.

They have no sense of purpose. They've been taught their entire lives that their only value to society is how much money they can make. Then the economy turned to shit and women started making enough money that what the man brings to the table doesn't cut it anymore.

It's tough to imagine anyone feeling much besides insecurity in a situation like that.

That is the best question I've read here. Most guys are insecure AF. Sometimes, it's just sad to see. I think mandatory therapy at the end of high school would solve some of these problems.
