I am really confused 🤔?

So what happened is that while me, my dad and one of my dad's Italian friends were taking a stroll outside, the friend's grandson suddenly pulled up on his bicycle. He seemed nice and asked me if I was liking it here in Padua, and then he left. That was the first time I met him. The second time I met him was when I was at the cashier's paying for groceries. I saw him coming at the same cashier to pay and noticed that he was standing quite near, probably we had an inch's difference between us. He said nothing, just looked straight ahead but I guessed that he recognized me. Later on my dad told me that he met the grandson again, who asked for my phone number so that 'they'(meaning he and his family) can stay in touch with me. I guessed that he was either doing it to appear nice or he sympathized with my condition ( me being a foreign uni student in Italy with no one, my family being miles away from me)
When I returned home this summer, i happened upon a WhatsApp voice message the grandson sent to my dad a few months after I came to Italy. The message was something along the lines of ' I haven't heard from or seen your daughter in recent weeks. I didn't even have her number so I didn't go to her. However, is she okay? I hope everything is fine.' What surprised me is the familiarity he felt in the rest of the occasions even though he properly just met me only ONCE. Am I overthinking it really? Is there any romantic subtext that I cannot yet grasp since I'm hopeless in getting clues or is this just kindness that I'm not used to?
