Why do some people romantically pursue a person they don’t really like?

I’ve been seeing this guy for 3 months. In the beginning he acted like it was love at first sight but as time went on I realized that he was never that attracted to me not did he care about my feelings and needs. I was just a tool for him to fulfill his needs yet he still acted very insulted when I accused him of using me and not liking me as a person. I never had sex with him and I wasn’t overly nice to him. Why did he try to keep me in his life if he didn’t like me and didn’t consider me attractive?

Men will do that because being with someone who kind of likes you even when you don’t like them is better than being alone, in their opinion. Honestly there has been essay after essay about how men so heavily sexualize their own existence, especially when it comes to living with a woman, that not having access to regular sex is seen as some kind of tragedy to them.
