I know guys who tried to date me when they did not like me, two of the guys would constantly disrespect me in conversation, another guy slandered me and tried to get me kicked out of church, another guy tried to kidnap and hurt me after I rejected him the third year I knew him and rejected him for a date, don’t know why a guy would try to date me if he hates my entire personality etc… I rejected all 4 guys.
Sex, not wanting to be alone, not knowing what you want, or insecurities.
Or psychological reasons. Mommy issues, maybe. Like a guy who's attempting to get love and attention from someone who subconsciously reminds him of the bad traits his mother had when he was a child. Like a distant, emotionally unavailable mother or an overly nagging/critical one... Trying to fix something some childhood disapointment.
I have to admit that's what I used to do when I was in my early 20s. I didn't even realize what I was doing or why.
These 4 dudes are very confrontational people.

For attention more than anything. Even if they have no interest in her, they enjoy knowing that someone wants him. So they use her for attention, sex, money... whatever the case, until someone he does wants comes along-
Yeah, that sounds terrible doesn't it? But some people are like that unfortunately: they mislead someone they know likes him or her until someone they want to date comes along.
Maybe they thought you were hot. Or resented you for not liking them back.

Boredom? No other options? Easy access? Bullies? I don't know 🤷♀️ but for sure, I won’t chase anyone I don’t like or worse HATE!

If a guy treats you like garbage and you keep coming back, in his small mind he tells himself it's because of his overwhelming value as a man, not because of any attachment/self-esteem issues you may have. It's likely he's not aware that's even a thing. He's so hot, he's so smart, he's so fantastic that it doesn't matter how badly he behaves. Helps him pretend he's not really the stomped turd everybody else sees.
The protective aspect comes into play the day you've had enough and dump his useless ass. Instead of acknowledging his behavior and the hurt he's caused you he falls back to the original delision - that you ain't shit. Takes the teeth out of any painful truths he's too insecure to examine.
He may look and act like a confident Alpha, but he's merely an insecure snowflake with his fingers shoved in his ears.
Who knows. We can speculate they were horny or felt guilty or whatever. Being mean to girls you like or whatever elementary school crap they’re still doing.
Whatever the reason, I wouldn’t even bother with anyone who doesn’t like your personality. Someone is incompatible and it is unwise to spend free time with people you don’t like. Find someone you’re compatible with, hopefully you don’t have to go too far.
Oh, they never stopped liking you. They never actually hated you. They hated the idea that in their minds you simply were seemingly unavailable to them. Rather than deal with their feelings of hurt and inner-rejec tion, they unfairly turn the inner frustation and anger outward onto others.

The only thing I can think of is you must be beautiful and they want you on their bed post of notches as women they've conquered so they can brag to their friends.
Unfortunately, there are men out there who want to screw a beautiful girl just so they can say 'I had sex with her and you haven't'. Sad and frankly gives decent men a bad reputation.
For the same reason women do it, its routed in our biology. You want what you can't get.
