Okay so I started seeing this guy who's an absolute sweetheart and tonight we hung out before I dropped him off at home.. but before he jumped out of the car, he was smiling at me and I was like what? And then he said shly "any goodbyes?" With the cutest smile on his face. If a guy or girl said this to you, what would you assume they meant?

I would assume they were looking for a goodbye or just what they asked in the question "any goodbyes". He might be looking for a kiss. Hard to say without more context. Like has that happened yet? What date is it? and so on. Honestly it really doesn't matter our impression if you have your own already. That is the one that matters. What I think it meant is pretty irrelevant. I guess what does it really matter what he meant by it? You obviously like him if you call him an absolute sweetheart. Ask him what he meant by that if it is such a mystery that needs solving. Also I don't know what "shly" is. Is that slyly, shyly? Those are two totally different words and have different meanings depending on what you meant to type.
Okay. Well I took it as a kiss so I kissed him goodnight.. he was quite shy about it even though we have already slept together before. but tonight nothing happened, we just hung out. but I guess he still wanted a kiss goodnight.. so I did.
That is pretty much what I would have thought he wanted too.
It sounds like he was just being flirty. I assume you mean romantically when you say, 'seeing'?
I think a hug and a kiss 💋 good night at least.
