Guy I haven't talked to in 11 months texted me, wtf should I do?

long story short i (21f) was in a pretty rough situationship with a guy (22m) for about 4 months last summer. we obviously both liked each other and got really close, even talking to each other about very deep and personal parts of our lives, but nothing ever went beyond casual flirting. i was too awkward to make a move and he was always weirdly nervous whenever we met in person. we got into a big argument last October, and up until this morning we hadn't talked since, and shortly after he started dating a mutual friend of ours (19f). they broke up shortly after, and i recently talked to the friend and from what she told me i can tell that she didn't really know much about him, which i find kind of funny. i was really hurt by the whole thing and never even tried reaching out for closure. last month, i saw him at a concert (we're both metalheads and the local scene is small so i honestly was expecting to see him). i waved at him and he replied very hesitantly, but we didn't talk. that kind of reopened the wound for me, and made me think about him a lot. this morning, he randomly replied to an instagram story, and used it as an excuse to ask me how my life was going. he was oddly nice about it, considering we left off on bad terms, and that left me really confused and unsure what to do. even though i miss him, i'm still angry with him, and texting me out of nowhere after 11 months of silence is really odd to me

Usually after an argument somebody apologizes or you just don't have the argument first of all but depending on what the argument was about who is right who is wrong who could admit that they were wrong.. .

But if somebody walks away for 11 months I would let him go if he really really wanted to be with you the day after the argument you would have got a hold of you.

Things like this happen for a reason and it's usually because you're not meant to be together so I kind of see it as if you guys get back together you're going to have your heart broken again cuz the guy clearly doesn't know how to communicate if there's a problem I would let him go you're doing good right now just keep on going LOL

He could be feeling guilty, maybe he misses you, that connection you had, or something else. I don't think you can tell without talking to him.
Since you had deep conversations with him, i would suggest talking with him, how that fight made each of you feel, his relationship with your friend etc. maybe things turn into a relationship (or friendship), otherwise you can finally get some closure.

Whenever someone calls it a "situationship," there is almost always something weird going on. Why do YOU call it a situationship? And how did you end because of an argument about something that was not connected to your relationship? Two people arguing about their favorite college ootball team rarely ends a relationship.

i'm not angry the "fling" ended, i'm angry about the fight we had (which was completely unrelated to our relationship) that led to us not talking anymore since we were close friends and losing a friend is always shitty. i was over the romantic aspect
