Why did my boss not react to me reading thick books but did react to me changing my hair drastically?

Isn't it interesting that my work crush boss didn't change his behavior once he saw me reading thick books at lunch but months later when I randomly wore hair totally different and down and nice, he completely lit up and changed around me (he hit on me for the first time ever)?
