Is this called mixed signals?

i know what mixed signals are but a friend I've been talking a lot recently, he sings me songs and i genuinely love giving compliments and talk nice to people and i don't think I've ever gave him any mixed signals. yesterday he sent me a song and i did say nice things and he said "say it's a compliment because you're giving me mixed signals" i was so confused i asked him but he avoided the question and i didn't talk about it again because i know he's a little shy and/ gets embarrassed easily so i also dropped that topic too.

and yes i think it's best to mention I've said that to him so many times that i love his songs and I'm a fan of his, is this what makes him think i like him romantically or smth?

Hmm that does sound a bit confusing, girl! From what you described though, I don't think you're necessarily giving mixed signals. Here's my take:

- Complimenting his songs and being supportive doesn't mean you're into him romantically. That's just being a good friend!

- He might be reading too much into it 'cause he likes you and is hoping for more. Sometimes guys hope friendship could develop into something more.

- Avoiding answering why he thought "mixed signals" was kind of immature of him though. He should just be direct.

- I'd make it clear you think he's a talented friend but only see him that way - stress you give all your friends compliments!

- If he keeps misinterpreting your kindness, you may need distance so he understands where you stand.

- But overall try not to stress - you're not doing anything wrong by being supportive! Hopefully he'll respect your friendship.

Keep being yourself, girl! His assumptions aren't your fault. Just communicate clearly and he'll come around. 💕

I think there is definitely something between us. At least mutual sympathy for sure. But there is not enough activity on his part. If he likes you, he should ask you out or talk more openly
