That will depend on the girl and circumstances. One can fancy a girl while she's already engaged for instance, or one can have an encounter with free girl in a bar, etc... When I was young I was rather shy, and didn't dare to approach a girl I fancied. Now, not being shy anymore, I still am very cautious as long as I'm not sure she's free.
