We were great before but now he avoids me. Does he dislike me?

So there's this guy I've been talking to. We met last year in church and ever since we've been talking.
I noticed of recent that he wouldn't look at me when I talk to him, finds it difficult to give a coherent reply when we have conversations and would always walk in a fast pace when I try to walk home with him.
All these are enough reasons to conclude he doesn't like me. But, I always catch him staring during church service, he smiles a lot when I try to talk to him but he wouldn't meet my eyes. He's either looking down or ahead of him.
He's always in a rush to get away from me... I don't know what to feel. Does he like me or not?
I really want to be friends with him.

Maybe he can tell you better than us.

I'm already beginning to feel awkward around him because he wouldn't talk.

I would have just let things be but he's always staring when he thinks I'm not looking. So I'm having second thoughts about him not totally disliking me

Actually,, I can't guess obvious feeling of him because I don't know him , but maybe he need more attention from you..
