Why do some guys like being mean to a girl he’s attracted to?

They have complex emotions they probably never learned to cope with in a healthy manner / internalize the feelings that come out in abnormal behavior. They need better role models and maybe a healthy decision.

It isn’t unhealthy to have a crush and it isn’t unhealthy to act on those feelings however it is unhealthy the mannerism the individual is presenting him/herself in. We need education, love, and to set an example in a calm collected peaceful manner.

It’s because:

• he doesn’t like the feeling her having power over him. This is one way to “defy” that.
• he doesn’t want to come off as a lack of challenge and get rejected/friendzoned for being “to nice”. It’s his way of playing hard to get. This sadly works occasionally.

But again this is not only ineffective but extremely annoying if the other person doesn’t find you attractive in the first place. I’ve had women try to do this crap to me in the past.

One woman (not a girl but a grown ass adult in her late 30s) consistently tried to antagonize me a few years ago. However I sensed it in her body language that she was attracted to me.

However I wasn’t attracted to her (at all) and her harassing me only turned me off further. Insanely immature for a woman who was almost 40.

It makes no sense to me if I’m being mean to someone then I probably don’t like them or they pissed me off (not that I’m mean for no reason) but it’s people who want to chase someone off and never build anything with them.

Other times people use that as a reason to make themselves think someone likes them when they in fact do not. If someone’s mean to you leave them alone.

Probably to attract attention. There was a girl I was madly in love with in high school and I would sneak up behind her in the halls and slightly slap her on top of her head from behind. We stayed friends, in school and she still talked to me but, I never ended up with her.

Perhaps as a faulty logic test: if she likes me after I'm mean to her, that will evidence that she must truly like me.
And if she doesn't like me, than that somehow "justifies" my being mean to her.
Being mean can be self-sabotaging though, as our bad behavior just may make her not like us, which is the opposite of what we claim we were hoping for.
