Genuinely busy, or just uninterested?

I met this man on a dating site, who asked me to add him on Facebook but wouldn’t give me his number. He asked me to close down my dating account and give him a chance. I decided to give him a shot.

He hinted at having known me previously, in real life. Then we had about three conversations just before Christmas, with this man’s commenting on how he’s got two half grown kids and a full time job and he’s a widower and how busy he is.

Shortly after I suggested we talk sometime after Christmas if he’s really busy, he thanked me for understanding and disappeared. It’s close to the New Year now and I haven’t heard from him. Not even a merry Christmas or a Happy New Year wish, or a response to my asking him out on a date for next week.

I told him he knows how to contact me if he wants to get in touch.
What’s going on here? Is he genuinely busy, blowing me off, or is this some kind of joke? I found it interesting that just before this happened, three men from a group of friends messaged me, on the same dating site, wanting to talk and one asked me out, to which I politely declined.
