What causes a man to feel “fartherly” and protective of a younger woman? And why only that specific woman?

That must be something deeply rooted in instinct and genes. In particular circumstances, setting aside all social issues, most normal men will prove to have protective instincts on behalf of kids and women, younger or not. In all natural logic also on behalf of their spouse if any ;0)

I feel protective and while I've never been a father I guess it's describes the feeling best that I may have for a woman that has been hurt emotionally for no reason. The same feelings would surface if she had been physically hurt but I would also be very angry with the guy that was so weak he had to hurt her.

He may really like her in an attraction way. Which wouldn't necessarily be inappropriate if the younger girl was an adult of legal age.

Guys can have kind of a protective instinct toward girls they like.

I feel that way with females friends. I guess if I care for her in a non romantic/sexual way then it manifests as fatherly or big brother energy. I'd say it's almost instinctual to act that way.
