Do any women get mad when the door is opened for them and women do you like it or dislike it when a guy opens a door for you?

My boyfriend made the comment that a small percentage of women get mad when guys open doors for them. I have always heard that, but it does not bother me in the least. I do not think guys think I am helpless at all, but I see it as a sign of respect (which most women want). I was raised in the US South where this was strongly encouraged. I do not feel the practice is outdated. What do you think?

I was raised with a mother and three sisters , I was taught that you always open the door for a lady , it was not because she was not able , it's respect and good manners , of course I still do it today , and I will nod and smile ( the nod is a Thai thing ) , no problem at all with this with Thais , they like it , sometimes maybe with Russians , but with Russians it's hard to tell , one lady said one day " what an absolute gentleman " I thanked her and went on my way.

It simply common courtesy to hold the door open for whoever happens to be there. I've only had one person every say anything rude. Usually people are polite and say thank you. Most people do the same.

I live in the south, everyone holds the door open for someone if they’re around. Men hold it for women, women hold it for men, men for men, women for women, so on and so forth. No one really cares that much

I'm pretty sure I've had one bitch at me for doing it. There was also at least one time where I opened the door for one, even though I had no intention of going into that store, I was just walking by and saw that she was coming out and decided to hold the door for her. Rather than so much as thank me for helping her, she completely ignored me like it was my JOB to hold the door for her majesty!!

My Mom taught me to treat women with respect. It’s just polite to open the door — nothing else.
