Broke up with him after I caught him lying, despite the fact that. I really did love him, and still do.
I broke up as respectfully as I could, focused on the actions rather than him personally. He and I have gone no contact, and I didn't see a need to block him before but now I am considering it. I feel like he is deliberately trying to hurt me.
He is posting on social media about places and restaurants that he knows I wanted to try, that he and I never did. I ran into him on two dating apps: the first had subtle digs at me. The second, he used a picture of us together. It's not even a good picture of him, but it's specifically the last picture we ever took together.
Why the hell is he being so cruel when I have tried my best to be civil, even after HE lied to ME?

If this is him trying to hurt your feelings then it’s out of spite because you bruised his ego with breaking up. No one wants to be the one being dumped, and this could be his way of getting back at you for doing it. Who knows. In any case though if you didn’t see a point in blocking him before then you have your reason now. I mean why subject yourself to further taunting if that’s what he’s doing of course.
In the foolish hope that he will want to reach out and speak like a normal person? But I mean, what other reason is there for using THAT picture? It's provocation.
I know I know. :/ I still do love him, but I am trying to move on.
There’s a lot of questions that you can talk yourself into needing answers for, but really they’ll just become excuses to break no contact. Who knows maybe that is his intent, and he’s hoping that with enough taunting you’ll reach out first. In my opinion that sounds like a trap though, an opportunity for him to feel like you came crawling back and he has opportunity to hurt you back. If I were you I wouldn’t want to give him that chance. I wouldn’t reach out to talk, o wouldn’t keep giving him so much attention when I’m supposed to be broken up. There’s not a single thing easy about healing from a breakup especially when it feels like your hand was forced. But you’ll never get to heal if you hit the reset button and go back. Or if you play into any mind games that he may be playing.
Yes, he wants you to feel his pain.
I feel like he is escalating his cruelty. Why doesn't he just reach out to talk like a normal human?
Men lack the emotional skills to handle things in a civil manner post breakup. We have only one thing on our minds. This one thing of course is revenge.
So it's foolish to think he'll reach out to try and talk then :/
He might after a while, but I wouldn't wait around expecting him to.
Do you think it's likely? I know it's hard to bet as we are internet strangers lol. I'm going to try to keep moving on. I miss him terribly but I can't bring myself to reach out with how he's behaving. Honestly, that level of vindictiveness scares me.
Then you most move on and never think about him again. A man who shows this sort of vindictiveness as you put it will be much worse in a marriage / relationship.
