On average it the evolved the advantages are for hunting warfare protection dominance speed and strength. All provide a evolutionary and social benefit. Because the primary cause of death for women was childbirth and they carry children for 9 months there are very few evolutionary benefits to being larger or stronger. Large risks in dominance conflicts or hunting little cause for size then and now. Modern life hasn't changed that so much. Social valuing and physical cues still make mating more challenging for big women and small men. So no force driving size equality even now.

It is all squarely YOUR fault. You and your ancestral Eve.

Your ancestral Eve also chose to hide when she was ovulating. That is really unusual among species; females of most species signal they are ovulating. Males of those species are only interested sexually when females are ovulating.

That ancestral Eve forced males to be up for it everyday. Males that wanted it once a month were crowded out of the gene pool by lack of "I'm ovulating" signals. Once you had us gagging for it every day, male mate selection criteria became relatively unimportant.

We might have favored pixie sized girls but once we were gagging for it every day we would have happily done giantesses.

So don't blame us; you and your ancestral Eve did most of the selecting.

Not all are shorter than men.
Back when mother nature designed people, they took in account who would do what jobs.
Not saying this badly but early on men were the hunter gatherers, did more strenuous labor, and women had and raised kids, kept the cave clean etc.
Over time that has changed a lot, but evolution has not.
With all of the growth hormones in the foods we eat now, that seems to be changing.
there are a lot more females that are taller, more muscular now than there were when I was in high school.
Sadly, you are not one of them, but why would you want to be taller?

I think a good question is why are some men shorter? And why do women mostly want a taller man? I think it's to do with wanting to feel secure and protected. But maybe that's just me projecting what I like.

I'm off to see a guy who is shorter than my usual tonight!! I hope it goes well. I'm only 5'1. I can't remember what he said he was? Maybe like 5'6 or something.

Not necessarily we can be all different heights Uma Thurman is 6 feet tall. And Daniel Radcliffe is 5 foot 5 . I'm 5 foot 8 it doesn't matter what gender you are it's just how you grow not if you a man of women I know guys that are smaller than me

Because maybe us men of at least 5"11 enjoy procreating women who aren't taller or even near our height - I like a woman who's 5 foot or so :P it just is what I've discovered in my 20s (30 now) I should've known all along - it's fun to pick up a 20s woman who's barely 40 to 50 kg, caucasian, cute, and feel like I'm maypole as she likes to twirl around me lol 😂 😆 like I'm a climbing pole lol 😆 😆

Probably natural selection. Throughout or history men  in general  have had a preference for smaller women. Those smaller women must have carried the genetic predisposition towards being smaller. Those women had far more children than the taller ladies.

It’s just how it is with the human species, women seem to stop growing after they hit puberty with their first period so that has something to do with it and your parents height, my one daughter didn’t get her period until 16 and she is 5’ 7” in height

Because we evolved in a hunter gathering rolls. Men needed to be bigger and stronger to hunt larger animals, women needed to raise children. Maybe now that we are in society where we can get our food from the store and use equipment to farm, in 1000 years maybe human males will evolve to be the same size and women.
