What does it mean when his texting is inconsistent?

Are there instances where men are truly just not tapped into communicating that much via text, bad with their phones or unable to multitask OR does it always mean that he is just not that into you? With inconsistent I mean some days when I don't see him we would be texting a lot or he would call me and it would be great but other days there is a single text or nothing. He is an actor / musician and his life is pretty unpredictable currently. I think it is best to match someone's energy in these instances so l am never overwhelming.

Maybe my question should also be, are there instances where a guy can see a text from a girl he is engaging with and not respond to it immediately for whatever reason without it necessarily meaning he is not feeling her?

I am not asking this because it is in any way what I expect but there is a widespread view amongst women that - if he doesn't prioritize you in this way, he is just not that into you.

I have always liked to think this should not be a determining factor at all. We have created an unreasonable expectation as a society, even beyond romantic engagement, when it comes to communication and accessibility.
