Should I walk right past a guy who doesn't keep the friendship going, or smile and say hello and walk past?

If we run into each other, he'll probably pretend to be all interested to know what's new, even though he clearly isn't interested, as he would probably have caved in and texted over these past several months (just like I always used to with him).

So I don't have energy to answer his fake interested questions. What should I do to put him in his place?

There is no real back story here so this is hard to give you an answer that addresses what you want answered. It kinda seems like you are worried about a scenario that might happen when you haven't had contact with this person in several months so you are thinking about that person and maybe you do or did have feelings for this person but are unsure about those feelings.

Did you contact this person over those several months? Maybe they are wondering why you haven't contacted them?
