Why would a guy chat me after 4 years of no contact?

Back in 2020 quarantine I chatted with a guy. We exchanged chats often though almost every day and night. Weird thing, he never asked me for my social media. We only chatted through dating platform and through email. By December same year, I got very few replies until my I no longer got a reply from him. Fast forward 2024 August, he sent me a message through my email. We exchanged short replies until he ghosted again. After 6 days he replied to me said he was busy. I haven't sent him a reply back. Why would he do this? I don't understand.

Chatting through one of those pick up sites usually means that he desperately tried to get into your pants. Seeing that he was unsuccessful at reaching his goal, he simply cut the contact as he may have found someone that was more receptive to his demands. Nothing really unusual for those kind of sites where people actually just want to fornicate.

He may have contacted you because he could no longer find someone to copulate with and remembered you, perhaps because he kept you on the back burner, just in case. What had to happen did happen and he wanted to warm up the stew that was simmering.

He must have been in luck as he may have found another victim and that is why he put you back on the back burner to simmer for another couple of years until he is out of luck again.
