Yes but I don’t think in the context of feeling obliged to do so that you might be thinking. Not the best way to he put it but I think he is said that because he does like you so much and doesn’t want you to ever feel hurt/damaged by his actions or ‘inactions’. My guess is at some point you shared some past sentiments with him surrounding how you felt and he took stock so as to not to be like those other men before him sort of thing. Make sense?

Yes I did share about my past experiences and how they still kind of mess with me. But I also told him he doesn’t have to feel bad for me. I won’t be hurt if he doesn’t want to. That’s what I ment by I don’t want him to feel obligated to or as if I’m pressing him to

Telling him he doesn’t have to feel bad does bot automatically place us humans i to indifference or unconcerned mode. Allow him yo feel are react as he wishes too. He still chooses you. Be at peace with this and enjoy one another.

Yes. As someone else said, he's feeling self-conscious, though we have no reason to think it's from anything you did, he probably just had some bad experiences in his past. Anyway, I think he'll get better as he grows to trust in the strength of your bond more, but he might need some regular reassurance in the meantime, please try to be patient with him in that regard.
