Why is my flat mate acting weird?

My flat mate and I got along well. He’s usually friendly and happy. He kept making flirty comments so I jokingly asked him if he was trying to flirt with me. He told me he thinks I’m beautiful etc. We ended up messing around that night, we didn’t sleep together but nearly did. He was worried if it would make things awkward between us but I saw him the next day and he was friendly and happy as usual and he later said it doesn’t feel awkward at all. He said he didn’t want anything serious which is fine by me.

We messed around again that night. Everything was fine until the past few days he’s been very short and abrupt/distant. My finger accidentally touched him when I went to grab kitchen utensil and he flinched very dramatically when he clearly knew I was there. It just felt very off with him. I asked him yesterday if he wants to leave it and he said he wasn’t feeling it - very blunt, no friendliness. He’s barely saying a word to me and I had enough of it today so I politely asked him what was wrong. And the response was “nothing”. I feel like he’s just making it awkward. I’m not bothered if he doesn’t want to continue things anymore but I’m bothered by his awkwardness and change in behaviour. He use to be friendly and happy, and now it’s the opposite. I’m also moving out very soon. Why is he acting like this? Why is he being so cold and blunt when I’m not bothered by it all?
